Parson Harding's Daughter
Published in Paperback by Corgi / Transworld Pub Inc (July, 1995)
Author: Caroline Harvey
Average review score:

Disappointing
This book was not what I expected - but never having read anything by Joanna Trollope/Caroline Harvey before, that's probably an unfair criticism. I was expecting a light historical romance, but that's not what this book is. I was expecting Caroline and John to come together, as could be expected from the premise set up in the synopsis, but that's not how things turned out. Think of this book more as "virtue is its own reward" or "a saga of personal growth in the face of adversity" than a romance. There's no fun in this book, and all the characters, with the exception of one supporting character in India, are repellent or uninteresting. Period detail is rather lacking, too.
Perhaps if you know what to expect from this author, you will find more to enjoy here than I did.

Plays: Before Daybreak, the Weavers, the Beaver Coat (The German Library, Vol 57)
Published in Paperback by Continuum (September, 1994)
Authors: Reinhold Grimm, Caroline Monlina Y Vedia, and Gerhart J. Hauptmann
Average review score:

Incompetent translation
This translation published by the German Library is unreadable. The first play, "Before Daybreak" reads like something you'd get from a piece of translation software. The "hick dialects" are so phoney and so blatantly done by an academic hack who has no idea how real country people talk that it's almost embarrassing to read. The book is a very expensive waste of effort: both yours if you buy it and the publisher's for printing it.

Priscilla and Elvis: The Priscilla Presley Story
Published in Paperback by New American Library (December, 1985)
Authors: Caroline Latham and Carloine Latham
Average review score:

Very Disappointed
I very disappointed to say I did not enjoy this book. When I heard of it's arrival I immediatley called the book store to have it reserved for me. As soon as I got home I sat down to read only to find out that what seemed to me to be a book to bash Priscilla Presley. I have been a huge fan of Elvis Presley for 12 years and through that have gotten to read about Priscilla especially Elvis and Me and have gotten to respect her trumendously. I've read Michael Edwards book and this book seems to have almost begin where he left off. By himself.
I strongly suggest that if you are a Priscilla or Elvis fan to not read this book.

Pudgy: A Puppy To Love
Published in Hardcover by Chicken House (01 April, 2003)
Authors: Pippa Goodhart and Caroline Jayne Church
Average review score:

Cute pictures, no story!
Even for preschoolers, this text has little to offer. It's even hard to find the lonely dog and girl in one spread filled with kids cuddling dogs. The "story" claims no one would play with them and the reader is left saying, "Huh?" Come on, young readers deserve more than this lame attempt! If you're looking for a fun dog book for kids, I recommend "Little Dog Poems" by Kristine o'Connell George.

Under Live Oaks: The Last Great Plantation Houses of the Old South
Published in Hardcover by Clarkson N. Potter (29 October, 2002)
Authors: Caroline Seebohm and Peter Woloszynski
Average review score:

Southern Gothic Rehash
Both author and photographer of "Under Live Oaks" are English, and their knowledge of the South is distinctly secondhand and second-rate. Seebohm even acknowledges needing a crash course in Southern architecture from a friend! Instead of genuine knowledge and insight, we are offered a gauzy gothic cocktail of Hollywood cliches. (Mix one shot of "Gone With the Wind" with a dash of "Suddenly Last Summer" and a gallon of "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte.") For a beautiful and intelligent book on Southern architecture, try "Architecture of the Old South" by Mills Lane. For photos that shed some light on Southern myths and realities, try "William Eggleston's Guide."

Watches International 2003, Volume 4
Published in Paperback by Rizzoli (June, 2003)
Author: Caroline Childers
Average review score:

Save Your Money!!
If you are a serious collector then put your money towards another watch. This book shows no/little pricing. In many cases it is a paid advertisement of the watch companies - products and technical descriptions are not shown/listed. You can get more info from a companies website/product catalog. Very disappointing book. It is a slick high glossy collection of photos - you get neither a good coffee table book nor a technical reference. I gave it to the dog to play with - at least someone is enjoying it.

The Wedding Planner
Published in Spiral-bound by Ryland Peters & Small (January, 2002)
Authors: Antonia Swinson and Caroline Arber
Average review score:

Pretty ... but useless
Not useful for planning at all. Mostly standard wedding advice you can find in any other book or magazine, small pockets which were not useful for holding contracts and other materials. Note pages were provided after each section, but this is more of a "thinking about" book than an actual planner and organizer.
